Whose book is it?
If you have two children, you’ll know what can happen when a book is all about just one of them. One gets to be the hero while the other sits beside them watching someone else’s adventure. There are two good ways to make a story for siblings, and the best choice depends on their ages and how they like to play together.
One story, two heroes
Give both children a starring role when you make the book, and the story will be written around them both. This works especially well for siblings close in age, or children who are already a team: twins who always build dens together, or a big sister who reads to her little brother. Tell us what each child is good at, so they both have something of their own to do. Choose an adventure where they need each other, such as a treasure hunt or knights and dragons. Our example story, Ella and the Northern Lights, follows Ella, her big brother Oliver and Grandad James on a night train to the mountains.
