A personalised children's book can be made in four ways. Here is how they differ, so you can choose the one that suits your child.
Illustrated from a photo
This is the one we make- How the child appears
- The child is drawn into the pictures from a photo, so they look like your child. Siblings, parents and pets can be included too.
- The story
- Written for the child based on your answers: name, age, interests, theme and message.
- The pictures
- New pictures for every book, in the style you choose.
- Before printing
- You see the whole book and can change the text and request new pictures before it's printed.
- A good fit when
- You want the book to be about your child and look like them.
A character you build
- How the child appears
- You choose hair, skin tone, eyes and clothes from ready-made options, and the character broadly resembles your child.
- The story
- Usually the same story for every child, with the name and sometimes a message added.
- The pictures
- Ready-made pictures with the character swapped in.
- Before printing
- You see a preview of the pages with your character.
- A good fit when
- You want to choose the appearance yourself without uploading a photo.
Just the name
- How the child appears
- The child doesn't appear in the pictures; their name is in the text and often on the cover.
- The story
- The same story for everyone, with the name added.
- The pictures
- The same pictures in every book.
- Before printing
- You see the name on the pages before you order.
- A good fit when
- Having the name included is enough.
Personalised colouring book
This is the one we make- How the child appears
- Black-and-white outlines to colour in, with the child or their name in the pictures.
- The story
- A short story or no story at all; the pictures are the main focus.
- The pictures
- Line drawings on paper that can handle crayons and pencils.
- Before printing
- Often a preview of a few pages.
- A good fit when
- Your child would rather colour than listen, or you want something to do together.
